Helsinki is often described as a city born of the sea. The Baltic embraces it with countless bays, washes its granite shores, and mirrors the silhouettes of cathedrals and towers in its waters. During this panoramic car-and-walk tour, you will discover Helsinki in all its beauty — from historic landmarks and grand squares to modern residential areas and peaceful seaside parks.

You will drive along some of the city’s most scenic waterfronts, enjoying sweeping views of the Baltic Sea and the many islands surrounding Helsinki (nearly 300 of them lie within the city limits alone!). The route takes you through the elegant Eira district, known for its refined Art Nouveau villas, where you will discover why this area was once a favourite retreat of Russian nobility.

At the Sibelius Monument, one of Helsinki’s most iconic landmarks, you will experience a true symphony of wind and sea: hundreds of metal pipes rise toward the sky, resonating with the sounds of nature in tribute to Finland’s greatest composer.

The tour continues through the residential district of Töölö, where, carved directly into solid rock, stands the remarkable Temppeliaukio Church. Here, even silence sounds like music.

The tour then continues on foot through Helsinki’s historic center. You will see Senate Square, the austere beauty of Carl Ludvig Engel’s neoclassical architecture, and the green Esplanade boulevard, where stands Havis Amanda — the bronze sea nymph and symbolic guardian of the city. At Market Square, you can sample freshly prepared salmon or the famous Finnish salmon soup and browse souvenirs crafted by local artisans.

Your guide will share not only the history of Helsinki, but also insights into contemporary Finnish life: what sisu really means, why a monument to a Russian emperor still stands in the heart of the capital, and where to find Helsinki’s most unusual sauna (spoiler: on a Ferris wheel!).

This tour offers a comprehensive portrait of Helsinki, combining short drives with relaxed walks — a perfect way to experience the city in a truly Finnish manner: calmly, thoughtfully, and without haste.
