Tourists in the Old Town

We invite you to discover Stockholm, often described as a city floating on water. During this three-hour walking tour through the historic center, you will see the city’s most iconic landmarks and learn why Sweden’s capital blends historic architecture so harmoniously with its natural surroundings.

Our journey begins in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town and historic heart. This is where the city was founded and where Sweden’s history was shaped — from prosperous trade and royal celebrations to dramatic and tragic events that left a lasting mark on the nation.

Narrow cobblestone streets, colorful 17th-century buildings, and centuries-old squares bring you back in time. Your guide will lead you through this atmospheric maze, revealing hidden stories and urban legends. You will learn what the inscriptions on a runestone mean, what mirrors on city streets were once used for, and why images of a burning salamander can still be seen on some historic façades.

A highlight of the tour is the Royal Palace, one of the largest royal residences in the world, with more than 600 rooms. Once a stage for political intrigue, conspiracies, and royal love stories, it remains today both a museum and the official working residence of the Swedish monarch. You will even learn how an audience with the King might be arranged.

The walk continues to Riddarholmen Island, where Swedish kings are laid to rest in the medieval church. From the waterfront, you’ll enjoy stunning views of Lake Mälaren and the impressive Stockholm City Hall. Crossing bridges and quiet passages, you’ll come to this iconic landmark.

With its red-brick walls and tall tower crowned by three golden crowns, City Hall is one of Stockholm’s architectural symbols. It is not only the seat of the city government but also the venue of the world-famous Nobel Banquet. Your guide will share stories about the preparations for this prestigious event, tell you where Nobel dishes can be tasted, and what secrets the building still holds.

The tour concludes with a magnificent view of the Old Town, seemingly floating on the waters of Lake Mälaren. This walk offers the perfect way to experience Stockholm in just a few hours — from its medieval origins to its most recognizable modern symbols.
